‘Pathaan’ is dealing with backlash for displaying Deepika Padukone in a saffron bikini within the tune ‘Besharam Rang’. Many leaders, together with from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, have demanded a ban on the movie, scheduled for January 25 launch.
The incident occurred at Rupali cinema situated in Rander locality of Surat on Saturday night.
“We received information regarding a group of people tearing posters of the movie ‘Pathaan’ at Rupali cinema. We arrested five of them and booked them for rioting. They belong to VHP,” police inspector AS Sonara stated.
A case was registered beneath Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections pertaining to illegal meeting, intentional insult, and prison intimidation amongst others, he stated.
Lately, multiplex house owners in Gujarat met Minister of State for House Harsh Sanghavi who assured offering police safety to theatres towards anti-social components.
In a letter to MoS Sanghavi, the Multiplex Affiliation of Gujarat stated, “the right forum for anybody having reservation or objection about the movie would be either official authorities or the Government of India or courts because the movie has been given clearance by the Censor Board”.
There are various teams that are “illegally targeting cinema exhibitors based on their own understanding and agendas,” it stated.
